The approach
Every lesson is one-on-one. The content and pace are adjusted to the age, experience, interests and goals of the learner.
Coordination, posture and control to build solid technique step by step.
Notes, rhythm, sight-reading and a clear understanding of written music.
Pieces suited to the student's level to develop expression, musical judgment and confidence.
Musical concepts woven naturally into hands-on piano study.
Not every student follows the same path. The route is built around the person, not around a fixed formula.
The method
Lessons follow Piano Adventures®, the method by Nancy and Randall Faber. More than learning notes, it aims for each student to understand the music, make it their own and play it with expression.
Three areas that are developed together at every stage of learning.
Applied theory: recognizing patterns, harmonies and rhythms to understand what is being played.
Improvisation and composition: inventing melodies together with the teacher as a regular part of the lesson.
Technique in service of the art: controlling sound and dynamics to play with musicality.
The method has different courses by age, with rhythm, repertoire, theory, technique and creative activities designed for each stage.
At each level, four books are used together. This covers skills that often get left out of a lesson: ear training, sight-reading, improvisation and a progressive technique program.
Who is it for?
Structured learning that respects each student's age, development and pace.
You can start with no prior experience, whether for personal enjoyment or with a more structured progression.
Work focused on technique, performance, reading, repertoire and musical understanding.
Live one-on-one sessions for those who can't attend in person, in English or Spanish. See how they work.
For families
Piano Adventures treats piano like any other subject: the lesson sets the direction, and steady practice through the week is what makes progress.
One-on-one time with the teacher to introduce new material and prepare the week's practice.
Ideally almost every day. At first, short, focused sessions are enough; the time grows with the level.
A set time for music, recognition of steady effort, and telling the student how nice it is to hear them play.
Online lessons
Live one-on-one video sessions for those who can't attend in person, with the same Piano Adventures® method and in English or Spanish. Available from age 8.
A one-on-one lesson in real time: the teacher listens, watches and corrects on the spot.
Online lessons involve more dialogue, and the score can be reviewed together on a shared screen.
With young children, it helps to have an adult nearby to set up the camera and sit in on the lesson.
The experience
One-on-one sessions of 40 or 60 minutes, with Piano Adventures® material chosen according to level and goals. Each lesson combines technique, reading, repertoire and theory, plus clear guidance for practicing at home.
